| Universiteit Utrecht (Utrecht Institute of Linguistics OTS), The Netherlands The Utrecht Institute of Linguistics OTS (UiL OTS) is a research institute of the Faculty of Arts of Utrecht University. UiL OTS aims at developing scientific expertise in the systems underlying language, speech and their use. The research programme comprises fundamental and applied research on language and speech. UiL OTS seeks to promote intensive cooperation between several areas of linguistics and related disciplines outside linguistics such as logic, computer science, and cognitive sciences. Considerable expertise has been gained in the area of Machine Translation (Eurotra, Rosetta), Speech Technology and Corpus Linguistics and related tools (development of the Corpus of Spoken Dutch). The institute has an ongoing collaboration with the UU IVLOS centre for ICT in Education and can thus make use of their e-Learning expertise. Starting in 1980, the institute has participated in a number of major national and European projects, such as ROSETTA, UPLIFT, EUROTRA, ET-10 (Collocations), LRE (Discourse, Reusable Grammars, TEMAA, EAGLES-1), MLAP (LS-GRAM), International Cooperation (CLASK), ESPRIT (DYANA, ELSNET), LE (EAGLES-2, VODIS), CORPUS OF SPOKEN DUTCH as well as in recent STEVIN projects dealing with Language and Speech Technology such as D-coi and IRME. Since 1995 UiL OTS has been the coordinating partner of ELSNET. It will be thus possible to use the communication channels of the ELSNET network which are well established for dissemination purposes. |
